Hmmmm i have the same problem with that thing, but i have solved that one
using privoxy (redhat 8.0), i configured squid to be a local cache_peer
which all request are being forwarded to privoxy... and in return privoxy
blocks those pop-ups...

you can't really tell the difference between java script that's doing
what you want and java script thats just there to annoy you. the best
solution seems to be improved browser handling, unless you just want to
break that functionality entirely.
