Hi,
after discussing the machine psecs earlier this month for squid cache
proxy servr for my ISP, i deployed it.. well ... the results are "BOGGED"
and slow response from cahce machine.. here are the specifications for
the live proxy server.. pelae resolve or suggest any upgrades...
1. 800 Mhz Pentium 3 Processor
2. 512MB SDRAM [133ns]
3. 40GB IDE hard drive for cache
4. 4GB IDE hard drive for log files
5. Intel Pro100 LAN card
6. Slackware Linux 9.0 with kernel 2.4.x
The hard drives are 7200 RPM. Befor it slwoed down, the machine was
service realtime to 60 dialup users.. and it was turbo charged. now it
slows down until i delete the cache, log and restart the squid server.
What to do?
