[squid-users] Repeated prompting for auth details

Anyone else seen this behaviour with Squid 2.4.STABLE7/eDirectory?

User authenticates successfully, and commences browsing. Then at various
times, well within the authenticate_ttl period, the user is again prompted
to enter their details. Some pages load piece-meal, prompting over and over
for user's details, validating them each time (I see new objects in
access.log), until eventually the whole page is loaded.

Any ideas what could be causing this?
