[squid-users] Q: How to set up squid for MSN messenger

I am trying to set up squid so that MSN messenger works.

I am using squid with authentication but there appears to be no way to setup a
username/password in MSN messenger when I enable the proxy settings.

I have, therefore, setup the cache so that it does not require
authentication when accessing *.passport.com

However, I still get 404 entries in the squid access log as follows...

1070223380.986 2 172.16.0.51 TCP_MISS/404 0 CONNECT
login.passport.com:443 - DIRECT/- -
1070223381.042 1 172.16.0.51 TCP_MISS/404 0 CONNECT
nexus.passport.com:443 - DIRECT/- -
1070223382.570 1 172.16.0.51 TCP_MISS/404 0 CONNECT
login.passport.com:443 - DIRECT/- -
1070223382.624 1 172.16.0.51 TCP_MISS/404 0 CONNECT
nexus.passport.com:443 - DIRECT/- -
1070223401.071 1 172.16.0.51 TCP_MISS/404 0 CONNECT
login.passport.com:443 - DIRECT/- -
1070223401.126 1 172.16.0.51 TCP_MISS/404 0 CONNECT
nexus.passport.com:443 - DIRECT/- -

I have therefore temporarily turned off the proxy setting for https access
in messenger and this works but I would like to turn it on again.

Does anyone have an idea as to what I can do to make it work?

Chris
