Hey guys im new to the world of Cygwin. I'm growing quite fond of it and every now I hit a bump like now. All im trying to do is get squid to run functionally in the cygwin enviroment. I configured my squid.conf file and downloaded mingw compiler when I run the ./configure, then make, then make install, it installs
fine. I run squid by going to /usr/local/squid/sbin/squid, with that typed alone squid runs on my windows xp background for a few seconds and closes. Now when I do the /usr/local/squid/sbin/squid -N or /usr/local/squid/sbin/squid -NCd1 I get that error thats stated in the subject Fatal: setrlimit: rlimit_nofile: <24> too many open files.
This error occurs on all versions of squid i compiled squid 2.5 stable 4, squid 3.0 pre 3, and squid 2.4 stable 7. What is causing this fatal error is it my configuration file, or the fact that squid dont run on cygwin at all which can't be right because cygwins install utility offers a squid 2.4 stable 7 install, I would appreciate any help thanks guys.
