Its just really odd! I've removed our dns servers from the squid box leaving only the isps, and hostnames are in the hosts file. I can ping them and they resolve as expected but within squid it responds with the following:

While trying to retrieve the URL: http://myemail/

The following error was encountered:

Unable to determine IP address from host name for myemail
The dnsserver returned:

Name Error: The domain name does not exist.
This means that:

 The cache was not able to resolve the hostname presented in the URL.
 Check if the address is correct.

windoze clients on the other hand can ping & resolve the address just as well as the Bash shell. That message was from our own squid box btw.

As for the message yes its rather threatening isnt it ;) It came from the top so i had no choice but to add it in, and its on the relay server so every mail gets stampped with it regardless �_�
