Depends on the speed of your web server and connectivity.

If your web server is sufficiently fast to cope with the load and well
connected then a accelerator won't buy you much in terms of performance.

But if your webserver is overloaded with lots of dynamic queries or plain
slow then an accelerator will help by offloading all the static content.
In addition, of your web server is on the company LAN with a slow
connection between the DMZ and the web server then the accelerator also
helps there.
