[squid-users] Plan to use diskd

All,

I plan to change my Squid to use diskd instead of ufs to improve disk i/o
performance. Currently, our Squid box only get 16 req/s. I need your advise
as it is still new thing for me.

Here my Squid 2.5S7 and Linux setting :

Squid Cache: Version 2.5.STABLE7
configure
options: --enable-linux-netfilter --enable-dlmalloc --enable-storeio=aufs,u
fs,diskd

cache_dir diskd /cache/objects 10000 16 256

/proc/sys/kernel/shmmax
2147483648

/proc/sys/kernel/shmall
134217728

I found that shmall has a smaller value than shmmax. This made me confuse as
FAQ explained that SHMMAX must be at least 800 kilobytes. SHMALL must be at
least SHMMAX 800 kilobytes multiplied by the number of cache_dir's.

I assume that I only have 1 cache_dir, so my shmmax and shmall is enogh.
Please correct me.

TIA for your kind help and advise.

Thx & Rgds,

Awie
