i've written a short shell script to test ids.....see below
when i run it, server responds OK...but if i test the id via a browser.
it fails........and like i mentioned earlier...its not all the
time....very intermittent.

[root@athena rc.d]# which test-id
/usr/local/sbin/test-id
[root@athena rc.d]# more /usr/local/sbin/test-id
/usr/local/squid/libexec/ncsa_auth /usr/local/squid/etc/passwd
[root@athena rc.d]# test-id
cns.hementg #####
OK
