That would be a very strange thing to do. Port 443 is https, not http.

In the proxy this SHOULD be a "CONNECT v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com:443"
request, not a http:// request. This is a sign of a seriously broken
client.

Seriously doubt so. And you would require Squid-3, or the SSL update to
Squid-2.5 to be able to do this (gatewaying http->https requests)
