This is my setup and the HTTP POST is being sent by the 'internet pc' but
not being forwarded by the 'squid reverse proxy'

<internet pc>---<firewall>---<squid reverse proxy>---<webserver>
I don't think I am using a parent am I?

Hendrik, means that if you are using a parent and your own (local) squid
does not have internet access then you need :

never_direct allow all

in squid.conf.

The reason is that POSTs are always tried directly by a cache, in normal
circumstance because it can by definition not benefit from cached info in
parents.

However in those situations where the local squid has no internet access it
is imperative that the POST is forwarded to the parent (too).
