[squid-users] cutting off leading part of URL

Squid is installed on SUSE 8 enterprise server, with Dansguardian, on a single box. Squid is as distributed with Suse

Seems like squid is preventing access to some sites because it is cutting off the leading part of the URL, the http://www part, it seems. Using Firefox 1.0.1 browser. seems to happen mostly when following links in emails or web pages.

Message is as follows:

"ERROR
The requested URL could not be retrieved

While trying to retrieve the URL: /(someplace.com)

The following error was encountered:

    * Invalid URL

Some aspect of the requested URL is incorrect. Possible problems:

    * Missing or incorrect access protocol (should be `http://'' or similar) "
