[squid-users] SquidNT service fails to start, then works fine

Hi, I've a little problem with my SquidNT intallation: at windows (2k server) startup, I've the following errors:

1) error 7022 - service control manager: Squid service hung at startup

2) error 7031 - service control manager: The SquidNT service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: restart [this is an english translation, my real event viewer messages are in non-english language; I don't remember exactly the respawn service time, so I guess 60 s].
In short:SquidNT hangs at startup, but if I wait a while, the service restarts and works ok...what's wrong?

My sw configuration: Win 2k server sp4 + security MS hotfix, SquidNT 2.5 stable9

hw configuration: P4 1.7 Ghz, 1 GB ram sdr, 2 scsi hd 36 GB 10krpm (raid 0); there are two nic:

nic1 (lan)-> 192.168.168.1/24, dns & gateway 192.168.168.1
nic2 (wan)-> 172.16.200.1/24, provider dns are managed by w2k DNS service; no dns declaration in squid.conf.

Everything works as expected with SquidNT, except for the service failure at boot time.

Any advice is greatly appreciated :)
