Here is what I have:

  proxy1:/var/spool/cron/crontabs# ls
  root
  proxy1:/var/spool/cron/crontabs# more root

  Proxy1:/var/spool/cron/crontabs#

And the user is a special user : squid

What user does squid run as?

Are there any other crontabs installed?
Take a look in /var/spool/cron/crontabs
