Then it's nice (but not required) to tell Squid that the server does not
support cache digest. See cache_peer.

Quite likely your http_access rules blocks the digest exchanges. Or you
are running an early 2.6 version where internal requests did not work in
accelerator mode.

If a 2 seconds timeout did not help then the problem is elsewhere.
