If it is the first, then you can go two paths.
either provide specific expiration in the http headers (i.e.
cache-control: max-age=600, Expires : Tue, 10 Oct 2006 16:58:56 GMT)
or modify the "refresh_pattern" directive in squid.conf to allow more
cache time for your requests.
