I don't know about any. You usually have to tune your squid config and
filesystems first, and I think it's enough in most cases :)

AFAIK you only need shmmax when using diskd, and aufs performs on linux much
better...
If you have more than one GB of memory on 32bit OS, you should have turned
on support for up to 4GB of RAM in linux.
