Try a more recent squid please.
2.5 is no longer supported.

The current supported version is 2.6-STABLE-16, FC should have one at
least STABLE 12 available.

If that was the entirety of your squid.conf you should not have any
running problems for the upgrade.

Please note that dig uses TCP by default, squid2.6 uses UDP, squid2.5 I
believe uses the OS resolver via a helper.
