Hi Andreas,

As per the wiki page
http://wiki.squid-cache.org/Features/CacheHierarchy, did you try with
the following two lines in your squid.conf:

cache_peer parentcache.foo.com parent 3128 0 no-query default
never_direct allow all

That 2nd line forces the child to only talk to the parent.
