Parent error message

Hi

I have read the FAQ etc but don't seem to be able to find a solution.

My upstream service provider and I are both running Squid 1.1.20 with the retry patch on similar Linux systems.

My problem is:

If I configure the upstream proxy as a sibling my cache hits are < 5% but if I configure them as a parent hit rate is about 22%
The problem with using the upstream provider as a parent is that my users receive error messages and ftp generated messages from the upstream provider. As we are in competition for customers this is not a desirable scenario.

I am looking for a solution that either increases my hit rate using them as a sibling or a way of changing the error messages.

I will mail squid.conf if required.

Any help would be much appreciated.
