Transparent proxy & Netscape Network Socket Error

I am running Squid 2.2.PATCH4 (still) on Redhat Linux v6.0. I use this
system to do transparent proxy by catching port 80 requests (I have my linux
PC as the default route rather than overload my cisco router)

I have 2 customers in the same area that get Netscape's Network Socket Error
message & their internet is quite slow. For everyone else the net is
blazingly fast & there are no problems whatsoever including on the other end
of routers. Their setup is a typical default 56k connection. Switching
proxies on helps alleviates the problem & makes it go a billion percent
faster.

Anyone have any ideas? Is their some timeout being triggered?
