You say it does this "sometimes", but not _ALL_ the time, correct?
What kind of server is a Strategi HTTPD V1R8M3? The 504 error could be
from a time-out, perhaps the server isn't responding to your request in
a timely manner. In this case it is probably not a squid issue at all.
