[squid-users] filedescriptors help

Could someone please tell what do I have to do to the squid-2.5.STABLE3-
0.i386.rpm to increase the use of filedescriptors ?

The "cache.log" is full of this messages: WARNING! Your cache is running out of
filedescriptors.

Already done this part:
ulimit -HSn 8192
echo 1024 65000 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_local_port_range

I have it running in transparent mode on RedHat v9, works well for half hour
and then the system goes down.
