        is quite adequate for current versions - it starts a monitor
        process as well as the worker process.

        However, the assumption that RunCache probably makes is
        that you are running a true server, so no-one is going to
        log in on the console every time it boots, anyway.

        You could probably pipe RunCache into logger, to get the
        output on the system log.

        You could probably run squid in single shot mode from
        /etc/inittab.....
